Review & Giveaway; Makeup Revolution - Blushing Hearts bronzers, highlighters and blushers

As you may have gathered from this blog I am a huge Makeup Revolution fan. They constantly seem to have a stream of new, great quality products, many of them dupes for high end brands without the high end price tags. One of my all time favourite launches from the brand, and I do have a lot of products I love from them, has to be the Blushing Hearts. It's a range of triple baked highlighters, bronzers and blushes that are designed in the same style as Too Faced iconic Sweethearts blush. The reason I say in the same style as, is although the original Sweetheart blush has been around for a good few years in comparison to Makeup Revolution's, Two Faced's offering only has 3 shades available vs the 12 Blushing Heart's which not only includes blushes but also bronzers and highlighters. You know it says something for a "dupe" when they not only take the idea and design but improve upon it the range offered. Something Makeup Revolution are extremely good at doing.

Although the Blushing Hearts come in cardboard packaging, I've found this to be extremely sturdy and despite using "Goddess of Love" almost every day as a highlighter, the only damage it's suffered it a few foundation marks from me being a mucky pup.

The colour pay off from this range is amazing, so much so I have to be extremely careful with the self titled "Blushing Hearts" which by the way is a dead ringer for Two Faced's "Something About Berry", because too much and I end up looking a bit too flushed if you know what I mean. This means I don't use this every day, and would be more suitable to someone who was less pale than myself. Hence why I've ordered myself "Peachy Pink Kisses", again another dupe for Two Faced's "Peach Beach" which gives a lovely summer glow and "Candy Queen of Hearts" not pictured which seems more my shade. That's another thing I love about this range. They have a good range for every single skin tone.

All in all, I love love love these and get super excited when I see Makeup Revolution have launched further shades to this range. I can't seem to make an order from them without another one falling into my basket.

Happy 100th post to me!

iPhoneography - Tips for taking better photos with your phone.

Hold your iPhone like you would a camera. I mean, this sounds a little silly but think about it, you wouldn't have your finger over the lens on an actual camera. That, and you wouldn't shoot a photo one handed. For stability reasons it's always better to hold it with both if you can,  especially in landscape, it'll mean less blurry photos.

Crop, don't zoom! This sounds like a silly statement, it's using the same camera, surely it'll be the same quality if you crop it to if you zoom in while taking.. WRONG. For some bizarre reason, zooming while taking leaves everything in a pixely mess. It takes two seconds to crop a photo, and most apps including the iPhones own editor has the ability to do it.

Don't be afraid to look silly and use angles. With an actual camera in hand, standing on something or crouching down to get a good photo seems somewhat more normal. However, just because you don't have with you an actual camera, don't be afraid to miss out an a good photo. Odds are on, no one will look twice at you for bending a bit to get a good photo.

Get snap happy! Whenever I take a photo on my iPhone it's never just one. The standard procedure is that I take it about 10 times and then look through them and delete any that are blurry and pick my favourite to filter. There's always one of two with better composition than the rest.

Know your apps. Photo apps are great, in fact over half the apps on my phone are for editing / added frames to my photos. I'm a bit of an Instagram addict (You can follow me @itsfrananne)! But knowing what quality the output is from each one is well worth knowing. For example, while I may love some of the cute frames on Purikura apps, I won't use them for anything other than Instagram. Instead for Facebook / this website instead favour ones like "Afterlight" where you can not only keep the photos quality but also often improve on them.

Make your own filters. No, I don't mean get coding and coming up with a special app for yourself. Instead combine your filters, many apps will let you do this without saving it and putting it through the app (or another) all over again. It means you get some effects and looks for your images that are pretty unique. Afterlight has a great "fusion" function meaning you can make and save your own filters which I love.
